«

Last night just after 2300 hours the Table Mountain 2m repeater transmitted it's last ID'er before going down. This morning the JPL Amateur Radio Club has been informed.
The KW6WW 2m repeater is up and running for those that can reach it
147.240 + (Enc/Dec) 91.5
Note: The Table Mountain 220 and 440 repeaters appear to be operating normally

The Table Mtn 2m repeater is back up and running thanks to Bill Wood (W6FXJ ) and Scott Howe (N3ASH). Bill figured it was a power issue related to a blown fuse or power switch turned off. Scott went up to the JPL TMO facility this morning and found the power switch inside the cabinet was turned off. Once the switch was turned on the 2m repeater was back operating.
With the Table Mtn 2m repeater operating again, Nets will return to the frequency pair. Switching to the Emergency Repeater #2 for last night's Net was an excellent exercise that worked well.
The ham community would like to thank Bill and Scott for their efforts on getting the repeater back operating.

Yes the Table Mtn 2m repeater started acting up yesterday during the rain/slush/snow.
Bill Wood (W6FXJ) designed and built the repeater and is currently troubleshooting this new issue.

12-8-18 update
After security clearances were completed, troubleshooting took place today at the TMO facility. Antenna SWR read near perfect. Repeater output was near zero so repeater was removed from the cabinet and currently on Bill Wood's test bench in Barstow for diagnostics.

12-9-18 update
The repeater was removed for repair and repeater builder Bill Wood W6FSJ was able to determine the internal 25 watt power amplifier failed. The power amplifier requires a couple of transistors to be replaced. This outage does NOT appear to be related to the outage occurring 3 weeks ago (Nov 19)
A temporary work around maybe possible this week with a 3 watt output instead of the normal 25 watt.
Hopefully repairs will be completed this week and the repeater can be reinstalled next weekend.

Update 12-11-18 1530 hours
The Table Mountain 2m repeater has been returned to service.
Repeater designer/builder Bill Wood (W6FXJ) was able to determine the problem was with the 25 watt power amplifier. The power amplifier has been removed for repair and as a workaround Bill was able to use the 2 watt transmitter output directly to the output jack. What this means is the repeater will output 2 watts instead of 25 watts. Most stations may not notice any change while those that are in fringe locations may experience weak signals.

The repeater is still at 3 watts output. Hopefully in the next few weeks it will be resolved.

Yay! Whatever all that jazz in those pictures is, looks like something that NASA would have to deal with, but if the repeater is back to normal, I'll try to remember to check in next Sunday on the net. Thanks!
