Great job Clint. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. And thanks to the VE team from Pasadena Radio Club for coming to Wrightwood to administer the test(s).

It was a pleasure learning with such a great group of people.

Thanks, John and Cindy for providing us with a nice place to hold our class.

Thanks to Sensei Clint for your instruction, and John and Cindy for their hospitality. I know the coffee was an important part of my passing the test.

Alan had a good idea, since our call signs should be contiguous, when we get them, we should post them here so we can identify each other.

88,
Susan

I wholeheartedly agree.  Sensei Clint was an outstanding teacher, and I feel I've added 8 more members to my family.  Thanks to all, for making this a great class.

Peace, and 73's
Matt

I feel very lucky.  It seemed like my test booklet had every question that I could never remember during the study tests at QRZ.  That we all passed the first time with such high scores is a tribute to Clint's passion for Ham Radio (and in a great part, his ability to vocalize electronic sounds so realistically).

The goal of having all three shifts on the fire department certified and equipped will be his next challenge that will add great benefit to our emergency service capabilities in our community.

Thanks, Clint!  Can't wait to start trying this out.

Congratulations to all of you for passing on the first try. Clint said you would all do that and he was right, so congratulations to him as well for doing such a great teaching job. Looks like the airwaves over Wrightwood will be getting a bit more busy with the big percentage increase in local Ham operators. Hey shouldn't Clint have more karma than that for his efforts? ;D

KG6ZEP

Clint mentioned ZEP has a special meaning to the radio world so I looked it up:

The Zepp Antenna

Zepp as in Zeppelin. The first Zeppelin airship was designed by Ferdinand, Graf von Zeppelin, a retired German army officer, and made its initial flight from a floating hangar on Lake Constance, near Friedrichshafen, Ger., on July 2, 1900. Beneath the 420-foot (128-metre) craft a keellike structure connected two external cars, each of which contained a 16-horsepower engine geared to two propellers. A sliding weight secured to the keel afforded vertical control by raising or lowering the nose, while rudders were provided for horizontal control. The craft attained speeds approaching 20 miles per hour (32 km/h). Much larger and considerably more powerful the Graf Zeppelin and The Hindenburg were used for crossing the Atlantic Ocean . For radio telegraph communication they allowed a long piece of wire to trail out behind the ship. This end fed resonant antenna became known as a Zepp antenna.

It is now official.  Got my license in the mail from the FCC.  Now, I am going to apply for my vanity license.  Thank you, Clint for all of your hard work, worrying (you were pacing outside for miles during the test) that you put into our learning. The effort payed big dividends.

I think we need to go in and just plan out the 3 shifts up here and maybe even the Phelan station.  Let's get everyone connected up.
