There were a few questions brought up at the last Fire Safe Council meeting
Response to the two questions for DPW:
What is the status of Lone Pine Canyon, when can residents anticipate it being reopened? - Status & Anticipated Reopening – Environmental requirements are currently pending and are expected to be completed in early February. Once received, final plans and specifications will be prepared, with completion anticipated by mid-March. The project would then move into the advertising phase in mid-March, with contractor onboarding expected in early May. Construction is estimated to take approximately one month, with completion targeted for the end of May. Please note that the Department of Public Works is committed to expediting the schedule and may shorten timelines if opportunities arise during the process.
Will the current Bridge Fire WERT Report be re-evaluated post December Storms to ensure the validity of the current timeline & thresholds identified? - Yes. The current Bridge Fire WERT Report will be re-evaluated following the December 2025 storm events to confirm that the identified timelines and rainfall thresholds remain valid. The California Geological Survey (CGS) plans to analyze runoff and watershed response from the December 2025 storms as part of this re-evaluation. Based on these findings, CGS will issue updated rainfall thresholds to better reflect post-storm conditions. These revised thresholds are anticipated to be released in the spring of 2026 and will be incorporated into the County's planning for emergency responses.
