220 Mhz question
« on: May 21, 05, 08:04:01 PM »
I've been playing with my Alinco 220 HT tonight, and while I think I have the correct frequency and CTCSS tone for the Table Mountain repeater, I can't seem to trigger the machine.

I'm wondering if I have the correct offset for the receiver portion of the repeater.  The outbound frequency I have is 223.960 Mhz, with a CTCSS tone of -156.7.

Are the 220 repeaters set up to have a 600 Khz offset, same as the 2 meter repeaters, or is there a different standard?

(I'm currently using a negative 600 Khz offset between transmit and receive)

Thanks folks!

Matt

I looked in the NYT book on page 9.2. It shows a 1.6 Mhz offset for 1.25 m repeaters.

Duhhhh...

It didn't even occur to me, to use NYT or Gordon West.

I changed the offset to -1.6 MHz, and was able to trigger the 220 machine.  I'll be monitoring the Table Mountain repeater later this afternoon, and hope to hear someone else out there.

Thanks Jack!  You're the best!

Peace

The radio should have come preset to the correct, standard offset. Glad you guys found the answer on your own though.

Well, it probably did, but I was playing with the buttons and knobs, and set it to some other value, and couldn't remember what the original value was.

The owner's manual sez that the offset can be programmed between 0 and 99.99 Mhz, so I was confused as to what the original setting was, and what the standard offset is.

Still, I think it is good to have both HTs, just as Clint stated.  The mosquito repellant tone seems to work fairly well!

Matt,

Tried you on TMO 220 when I got home last night. Was about 17:45 - 18:00 I think.
