Las Vegas - Real Live Girls

Well Girl, singular actually. WITH a radio! Woo Hoo!

Our own KG6ZEU will be in Sin City this week, and while it's said what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, that's not true of radio waves.

Las Vegas has two 220 systems (see, no way to do this on 2 meters) which link into Southern Cal. There is a Condor system repeater and a Mountain Repeater Association machine which link into the basin, and Wrightwood.

Condor has a repeater on Quartzite Mt. near Adelanto which can be reached from parts of WW. And there is MRA repeater on Blue Ridge at the Frost radio site.

In LA (pay attention Jack) you can use the Condor machine on Santiago Peak and MRA on Contractors Pt.

We will try to set up a schedule with ZEU to try this out.

Susan and I succeeded in our second attempt at repeater communication from Lost Wages to Southern Cal. Our first try on Condor did'nt work. Appeared condor link was not up. Last night we were able to make a very poor contact (due to Susans room location I think) on the MRA link. I was in Robin's shop in Temple City working through Contractors Pt. in the Valley, and Susan was in the North Tower of the Las Vegas Hilton going through Lower Potosi. That's a tough shot from that location. She will be on MRA again on Saturday. Jack you could try Contractors Pt., Wrightwood folks use 224.48 on Blueridge. If we arrange a time I will post it here.

And Thiassi, I would be happy to explain ham radio if your interested. I taught a class in spring and we licensed 8 new hams.

Need a little more detail than just Saturday - What Time?

We'll be in Corona-Norco area about 1-4pm.

There was a guy asking if the Condor was down on the Grub Grabbers this morning.

Hi gang!
It was cool to know that my signal got through to Clint. On my end, all I could hear was static--but then sometimes that's all I hear when Clint talks anyway (just kidding, couldn't resist).

It will probably be Saturday mid-afternoon. I have to work until around 1 or so.

(LOL!) Woah! That's just what it sounds like. You captured it so well phonetically! Maybe it's some secret radio language spoken by those with the General license--although I also recall hearing something remarkably similar at the end of one of our  longer CWPP sessions. ;D

Well gang, we tried again on Saturday to connect, however we were not successful. Clint could hear me key down the repeater, but there was no audio. I think the new Wynn hotel was in the way.
