No, he never went over to their nest boxes.  I don't know who enjoyed the company more....the chickens or the cockatoo.

What a nice thing to say! :)

Sometimes, I am starting to feel like I can capture with the camera....what I am seeing with my eyes.  I get frustrated when I cannot duplicate what my mind remembers.  Gets better every load of pictures.  I'm working on a blind right now to photograph the wildlife here without bothering them.

Well, you have been able to capture stunning photos (in such a short time that you have been doing it really) they are so "down to earth" and bring to you the whole image of "down on the farm" or the "west".

That shot with the squirrel is definately one that Wrightwood might set up with wireless infrared forward looking radar images coupled with a heat sensitive trigger.  Great shot....is the squirrel stuffed or live?

Okay WWMtnGal, I think you have been had. Judging by the whole set-up and home-made tripod, I don't think those are the first efforts of picture taking by that squirrel. I think he is a pro who has been taking pictures for quite some time. ;)

This Scrub Jay kept hanging around until I went and got the camera.  He disappeared for twenty minutes and I caught him when he landed near the feeder.

These guys are the opportunists of the chaparral....noisy...bold and very inquisitive.

Great shot, Wildman!  I love the scrub jays - we had one that came around for 2 or 3 years, and would land on us to get peanuts.  We called him Crazy Jay.  One time we were sitting outside, without any peanuts readily available, and he landed on my husband's head and started pecking away!  That hurts, so I went and got the peanuts.  He could be kind of a nuisance, even flying into the garage to help himself, but he was fun.  Don't know what happened to him.

I still think the scrub jays are the friendliest bird overall and the flickers seemed to be the most nervous when humans are within sight.

Nice colors in the sunrise above Mtn Top
