This was quite interesting.  I'm glad I took my little dog to the Rattlesnake Avoidance Class 2 weeks ago!  Looks as if we'd all better keep our eyes and ears open this summer.

Stupid question #...(geez, I've lost count) :(

If you circle your house/garage with this product and you've already got snakes in the house/garage, isn't this stuff going to keep them there ???

I was at the family pet clinic on Thursday and saw a dog that had been bitten by a rattler. It was a sad sight. There is a rattle snake vaccine for dogs. It is a 2 shot set, three weeks apart and it is good for 6 months. It is a bit late in the season but is worth looking into.

This 4' guy was on the trail behind the church camp. He was sunning across the trail and went slowly off the trail. I followed him up to take the photo and he was makin a lot of noise.  ;D

Wow...that was a big one!
We had one about 1/2 the size in the East Canyon area, in our yard, and have killed about 4 babies, about a foot long around our house/patio, just in the last week...

I would not kill them myself. I would relocate them someplace. And it was the camp at the top of Elm.

Please contact me before you kill any more rattlesnakes.  I will try to relocate them.  I'm on the computer most of the time, but I can be reached at 4714.

If you just wait they get out of the way. Don't kill them. This guy had around 8 rattles that made a lot of noise. He did not start making any noise until I got up close to take the photo. He just wanted to get off the trail.  ;)

The vast majority of bites are from people actively provoking a snake, either by trying to catch it or kill it.

I just heard a bleep on the radio yesterday about a drunk guy in a park somewhere down the hill.  The guy decided he was going to pick up a rattle snake.  The snake bit him.

Oucccchhhhh!  I hate when that happens!

Thank you ChattyCathy.  I have run into many rattlers as a runner, hiker and a mountain biker.  I find it a privelege to see one.  I would not kill one unless I found it necessary.  They are beautiful animals.  The Pacific Rattler, which is the most common one up here is fairly docile and will try to get away from you if threatened.  Usually you see them on a dirt road and you can stand there and watch them without them threatening you.  They rattle is very loud if you startle one.  They give you time to stay clear. Thanks for the info as to expert removal.

I wouldn't kill one unless it was necessary.  If I do kill one, I plan to cook it.  Waste not, want not.
