Thanks for the compliments guys. The pic of the snowy joshua trees was taken with my old Canon AE-1. All of the others were taken with my digital camera which is a Kodak DX 6490 4mp with 10x optical zoom and 3x digital zoom. The digital cameras are cool, but man I miss my AE-1 sometimes. All the photos were taken here locally in Tri-Community. Here are a few more.

This one's a little blurry but I always feel lucky to get lightning at all.

This sunset was about a minute before the other one that I posted.

Shooting pictures of lightning

I haven't been around that much lightning.  Is there a technique or is it just luck being at the right place at the right time?  I know with the new cameras like the 20D etc. speed is not an issue, but timing and luck appears very important.

"Alright now that I know how to post pics, be prepared to be subjected to my photos that I think are cool but probably really aren't."

Great stuff.....Whatever :2thumbsup:.  The sunsets are great with the ball of fire sinking into the earth.  Lightning has escaped me and is difficult to capture.  Welcome.

Lightning....as far as my experience is all about luck and taking a ton of pictures of black sky and hoping to time it right. I have had success by trying to time out how often the lightning is striking and taking bursts of pictures by holding down the shutter button.
Wildman, I have spent the last couple hours looking at your photos and I am feeling so inspired right now. Truly, truly amazing stuff. You obviously have a great eye, but also what a great camera you have. I'm jealous.

Maximum strength of 53,000 pounds per square inch of spreading force at the tips, at twenty four inches open...
A crew that's on their game should be able to force all the doors, push the seats back, and roll the dash in about eight minutes....with this one tool....

When I first used the Hurst I was utterly surprised.  It's all at the push of a button.  Absolutely no work is involved in tearing cars apart (except holding the dang thing up).  It's soooooooo cool!  You make me miss firefighting.   :'(  Someday....when the kids are older (concidering one is still in the oven that will be a few years), DH and I are going to go back to volunteering.  I so totally and utterly miss it.

Oh...and VERY COOL picture firefightersteve!!!!!!

Is it strange that someone would "Love" their boots?
All it takes is one extended fire assignment,
torturing yourself in crummy boots,
to learn your lesson.
Wear the best!  This is a photo with one of my "Whites"

The moon did have a nice tone to it that night. I was too tired from digging to drag the stuff out again that night, but this is from the night before. I found that thing moves fast.... :o a slow shutter speed actually blurs it quite a bit.

My first attempt at a moon shot....is that a pun :-\

We had some great cloud formations this week too. I got to spend a little time on the ridge this week.

The clouds were interesting in Running Springs today....
But didn't amount to much....as far as rain is concerned...
How about in Wrightwood?
