Went fishing up in Bishop last two days on the Owens River.  This is the view of the mountains with the smoke from the 1200 acre fire along the river.  There was a 60 mph wind pushing the fire.  Even with the smoke, the views were spectacular.  I did catch a fish!

Angelwolf,
That is a gorgeous photo!!  You inspired me to visit the Poppy Reserve this last Saturday.  It was beautiful!  Here are two of my shots.

Great shots yourself!  If you want to go there again, let me know and maybe we can go together?  It's so boring going alone..  :)

I love both your photos. What are the purple flowers? And your depth of field is done really, really well. Cheerfulkim, I love the orange of the poppys behind the purple flowers.

As for the Poppy fields, they aren't very heavy this year, are they? I think the area needs a good burn to allow the poppys to regenerate once again. If you saw these fields 15 years ago, they were wall to wall orange. The same on the mountainside leaving the AV at the 14/138 merge. I love spring. I would really like to get out to Death Valley and see the spring growth out there.

A fellow skier who lives in Topango Canyon took this picture last weekend when he had a vistor come to his back porch.

Great photo, but too bad the cat has become so accustomed to people that it is not afraid to be so close to a house.

PinonMesa Jon,
I love my Pentax!  You asked me a while ago what lenses I used to get the flower shots, but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to take out my case.  But here they are.  My friend described them as "vintage" lenses!  First I put on a Sigma Tele-Macro 2X-1:1, then I add a Soligar 80-200 Zoom+Macro, both film lenses.  I have to set my camera to manual focus because these lenses are old!  No auto focus- that's why some of my shots are a little blurry still.  I really need to invest in a good tripod next.  I still don't know what I'm doing, but I have so much fun going out and experimenting.  I love doing the macro flower shots and playing with depth of field.  Here's another one from last week.
