I got a Pro 97 a few months ago when it was on sale but i have no idea how to program it  :-\ Ive so far only used it for the weather.

Ive read the instructions and putting them in one by one is hard and it seems like it would take for ever!  Is there an easier way?

Hey FG, I think you are going to need one of these also:

Do you mind if I ask you what the Pro 97 was on sale for when you bought it? I have been thinking of getting that model, but it has been quite a few weeks that I have been following the Radio Shack ads and it has not gone on sale since I have wanted to get one.

Thanks FG, I see it is on sale in today's Radio Shack ad for $149.99.

Thanks for the great link RobertW.

Does anyone know if they make a USB cable for these scanners?

Just picked up my Pro 97 from the Phelan store. I was not too happy when he told me the warranty was only 90 days in the store. Luckily when I got home the paperwork says it has a one year warranty which my credit card company doubles to two years.

Radio Shack is just coming out with their USB data cable and it should be in the local stores shortly. Here is the link:

Hey Bob,

Did you get your PRO97 programmed yet?  With this bad weather there should be a lot to listen to.

Well, you CAN punch in the top 10 frequencies by hand.  You don't HAVE to use the computer to program it.   ;D

Just received this information:

In order to facilitate improved radio communications in the Cajon Pass area, effective 0800 hours on March 15, 2006 8-FIRE-2 will be permanently included in the North Desert radio patch. The North Desert patch will now appear as:

1-FIRE-1, 2-FIRE-1, 3-FIRE-1, 6-FIREGROUND-7, Ridge Fire, Baker Fire, Mountain Pass Fire, COUNTY-1 Tone 7, 8-FIRE-2

All Valley units and North Desert units will switch to 8-FIRE-2 when they are assigned to incidents in the Cajon Pass.
