Why is the west ridge and hill descending Circle Mt. at the top of Lone Pine Canyon called Helicopter Hill?

Mr. Nolena & I heard it was called "Helicopter Hill" because helicopters landed there.

Why?

Medivacs? Fires? Alien Invasions?

Actually, back in the olden days when I was a teenager, it was a popular place for hanging out and doing things you weren't supposed to be doing. Not that I ever went there....
