While testing out the manual settings on my Canon Rebel XT, I was overjoyed at the
outcome...

Just like the good ol' days using my old Canon AE-1, out of the auto mode...
I LOVE DIGITAL SLR's!!!

Betsylou, those are striking tulips.  I like the soft color on the bottom of the second photo, fantastic outcome.

Simply outstanding work by both of you, Firefightersteve and Betsylou!  I had no idea we had such wonderful flowers in our area.  This year, everything blooms.  The Cholla Cactus are getting blossoms on them right now.

Thanks Wildman,
This is a great forum.
I'm always poking around on the internet and haven't found anything else like it.

It's amazing to me how something can look so plain from a distance and so beautiful up close (and vice versa) I know very little about photography but you guys make it look easy(believe me I know it isn't)   Keep up the good eye candy  ,it really makes the world more beautiful.

Call it Wildflower Explosion.
Other people do it.

Publishing a book.....
That's something to shoot for.
I'd be interested in a work that showcased the Wrightwoodcalif amature photographers...if it had the right twist.

There are zillions of publishers and photographers peddling flashy computer edited images...
They're all over the internet and the bargain book racks at Barnes and Nobles..
It's easy to make a photograph look pretty with software and computers.
It's more difficult
to tell a story...
With accuracy, depth, and poignant photography.

What would be the Wrightwoodcalif story?

For one thing,
I sincerely appreciate the common good will expressed in this forum...
And the opportunity to present work for this groups consideration.

Star Thistle, centaurea melitensis
I'm holding my tee shirt behind this bloom to darken the background.

Where are you finding all these beautiful flowers?  Am I just not "stopping to smell the flowers" so to speak, or do you have somewhere you are hiding from us?

Great  shots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep this up and you will never get that new camera you want.  Your wife will just say "its the eye of the Photograher, not the lens of the camera"

Thanks Chuck, I hope you wrong about the camera.  My wife knows me all too well, I'm very sneaky.  She's always keeping an eye on me.
The white sage is common in the Cajon pass.  There are whole hillsides covered by it.  I'll take a photo from a distance.

Best wishes and hope you're not having anymore strange smoldering spots.
