FFSteve, you take pics like I do! (you do a lot better though)

For instance, when I take pics of bikes at the Laughlin Harley Run, I start out from maybe 4 or 5 yards away for an overview while circling the bike, after that, it's in close for the details!
Am i right?

You guys totally ROCK!

The Mariposa Lily is beyond beautiful! It reminds me of when glassblowers will add different colors to the globe or vase, and as the glass is blown, the colored spots elongate. I think they call it carnival glass, did I get that right?

Great shots. As an added attraction, the Mariposa Lily has my football teams' colors...Washington Redskins! Burgundy & Gold!!

P.S.
Also, the White Sage looks as delicate as a cloud. Nice job. Keep 'em comin'

Hi Laughlinguy...
I do like to take in a scene from a distance...
It takes some time for the patterns to come out...
It's like looking at one of those 3d pictures....that you can't see at first..but then the image jumps out as you let you eyes go out of focus...

Those bike photos you submitted were wild...

Thanks for the feedback...

Firefightersteve, you are really finding art in these simple things that grow around us.  It is facinating to see the progression you have made in the last year.  Your new camera has really helped but you have to have the eye.  Keep finding these jewels that sway in the wind.  They are simply stunning!

Hi Forestgal,
Thanks so much for your compliments and your absolutely right...
A mistake on my part..
I got the latin right but mixed up the common name.
That lilly is a "Humboldt Lilly"...not a Mariposa.
Thanks for the correction...

You're welcome, ffsteve.  I wasn't trying to correct, only to try to figure out what I'm trying to learn.  I just got this wildflower book last year in an attempt to ID some of the flowers I see on my hikes up here.

Please keep posting your wonderful pics!!

Hi Forestgal,
I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the local fauna and appreciate your input.
I don't mind being corrected.
Accuracy does count.
Please mention any of my snafoos in naming these flowers.

This is a true Wrightwood flower from hwy 2:
Blue Flax, linum lewissi
Couldn't find this one in my books, but found it on line.

There are some interesting yuccas blooming up through the ashes of the controlled burn areas in Lone Pine Canyon that could be fun to photograph.

You continue to eclipse each previous effort.  Superb photography and detail.  You are mastering isolation, detail and lighting to very high standard of excellence.  You rock!

Thanks...
Very generous of you...
I've been experimenting with long exposure times...
All tripod stuff...
I'm hoping to experiment with long eposure in low light at sunrise or sunset.....
