I had one that was hanging around my back yard during the winter and spring.  Since the big maple tree on my patio, where I hang the suet and seed feeders, didn't have leaves on it, the birds were easy to see.  One day I wondered why no birds were at the feeders, and looked until I saw the hawk sitting there.  Another day I looked out the window of the back door and saw the hawk on the patio, just a few feet from the door.  It had caught one of the beautiful flickers.   :'(  I opened the door hoping the hawk would leave, but it flew up into the upper part of the yard and took the flicker with it.  So sad, but they have to eat too....  I just don't want to witness that.

I agree with RennMan, wish it had been one of those stupid pigeons instead.   :P

That is one HEALTHY looking coyote. It looks like it just came from the dog groomer?? The deer looks a little skinny.

The coyote has a beautiful and exotic face - small, streamlined features.  Thanks for the photos! :)

There were pictures of coyotes running with other dogs earlier in this thread.  That might not be 100% Coyote.

I'm not seeing much other then coyotes and birds.  It's so dry I think the Deer moved to an area where there's more to eat.

Before I read this comment, I thought to myself that the poor deer looks emaciated.  Dang I wish we would get some decent rain so that the food supply for the wildlife will be replenished.
Great photos, SkierBob!

I have to wonder if my guzzler is preventing the deer from moving to an area where there might be more grass.  I haven't seen the Buck's in at least 6 weeks or more.  I don't think the deer will die of starvation but if it gets weak it might end up Coyote bait.

The Coopers Hawk is a first time visitor.

Wow, I didn't realize I started this thread in April of 2006 of my two best buddies Buster and Lucy and it's been viewed 83850 times. Great photography and off site cams so we can see all the great wildlife we have in the our backyard. Unfortunately Buster and Lucy are no longer with us. We also lost my fathers two dogs Kodo and Miko this year. So 2013 pretty much hasn't been our favorite year.

But now we have a new family to raise, we adopted Elwood 2 months ago and Maddie came along our path and we adopted her recently. Elwood is 1-1/2 yr. and Maddie is 5months so we have our hands and hearts full. I'll never forget the kids I've raised and that has led me to some art ideas that I can cherish forever.

So let's introduce Elwood and Maddie to the family portrait.
