I had one that was hanging around my back yard during the winter and spring. Since the big maple tree on my patio, where I hang the suet and seed feeders, didn't have leaves on it, the birds were easy to see. One day I wondered why no birds were at the feeders, and looked until I saw the hawk sitting there. Another day I looked out the window of the back door and saw the hawk on the patio, just a few feet from the door. It had caught one of the beautiful flickers.

I opened the door hoping the hawk would leave, but it flew up into the upper part of the yard and took the flicker with it. So sad, but they have to eat too.... I just don't want to witness that.
I agree with RennMan, wish it had been one of those stupid pigeons instead.
