Is this a rattlesnake or a gopher? I note the diamond-shaped head. Great shots!!  cheryl o7o

Just so you know, Gopher snakes will coil and rattle their tails and hiss loudly through their mouth.  To the uninitiated, they might look like and act like a Rattlesnake....which is the idea.  When you leave them alone, they go on their way.  They fool my Rattlesnake saavy dog.

Thanks Jim. The markings are so similar. The heads and the tails are significantly different.  So far here... we've just had gophers and red racers. The latter aptly named.  The gophers have the narrow head and skinny end of the tail. The rattler has the diamond shaped head and a rather thicker end of tail where the rattles are.  I think I'm finally getting this. Thanks again. Cheryl o7o

Ok Nolena.. this is just one of your April Fool's jokes.. right? Tell us that's right.  Also loved the dog "driving off leash."  cheryl o7o

Love it when the Bluebirds come around before heading up the hill to nest.  Grooming after a bath in the pond.

Heard a commotion in the back and saw twenty Ravens circling excitedly.  They were focused on a drought killed Pinon Pine where this young Bobcat was taking a nap.  He ignored the squawking and lay there for an hour or so.  After a stretch, he hopped down and ambled off.  Very healthy looking and we still see him on occasion.  I took the picture with my 400mm lens...he never acknowledged that I was there.

If you look closely he's looking right at you. :)  He's doing the "If I don't move he can't see me" thing.  BTW, I noticed that the picture has an odd tone and you called it "color corrected".  I don't know if that's what you were aiming for but if that photo looked natural on your screen, then your computer's color profile is out of whack.  I've corrected the color (mostly) below.  If what you see below doesn't look natural, then you definitely need to fix your color profile.
