Everytime I look at this picture I'm amazed at the sharpness of detail.  Which lens did you use and settings?  And the BIG question, how many shots did you take to get this good of one?  Be  humble now.

I took about 4 of them.

You know my house right?  I was sitting in my front door and he was on the pillars at the street so I was about 20 feet from him with my big lens.  the 100-400mm stabilized lens.

shutter speed    1/1600 second
f/stop 5.6
iso - 400
focal point - 310mm

Thank you for the compliment....

All three of my son's FLICKR pictures posted by my brother hit the top ten in interestingness.

It was a fantastic vacation, this picture was taken in Saranac Lake, NY at an ice cream shop.  Having a brother that is a professional photographer for part of it made it even more memorable.

We just got back from a trip to Mammoth Lakes and it was wonderful.  At Lake Mary and Lake George the bears were amazingly active and casual about taking what they wanted.  One Bear had to killed on Monday because it broke into 3 homes with people there.  Here are a few pictures of the Bears.

I heard some spanish speaking people yelling Las Frutas, Las Frutas.  Yeah the bear really like them.

Well, I have a picnic table and all the fixins from Vons

What shall I take for my hike today?

Time for a swim

Hey Chuck, what are you looking at?

I'm bashful, don't you know!

The backdrop for all this

these pictures make me so sad and angry at the same time.  This bear will not last much longer.  Once they become aclimated to human food, they become so much more aggressive and wind up being destroyed.  We are working on a "forest order" for my district and the district to the south of me that people who leave their food out unattended will get a large fine.  If you leave your food more than 100 feet away from you and don't dispose of things properly--a ticket will be in your future.  New Mexico Dept. of Game and Fish has had to destroy several bears this summer because of lazy people.

There were signs up stating that people would be Cited if they left food out, but then virtually every camp site (not ours) had coolers sitting outside during the day while people were off.  It's an enforcement issue.  I guess they have the reputation of not giving citations and word gets around.  I'm wondering if the law just relates to night time??  These bears were so brave they walk right up to people fishing, and lunching, most people just ran off rather than trying to discourage the bears.  Some people would yell at the bears and then they would run off (mostly).

I forgot the Genie...

California Adventure
This is just a 40minute show that rivals Broadway quality. Perfect length for kids.  My two and four year old kids were riveted to their seats.  It is worth going early to get a seat near the front.
