Beautiful work, Calindy!   :2thumbsup:

And thanks to you and S_D for the explanation of "bokeh".  I thought maybe that was photographer lingo for "bouquet" - since his pic had flowers in it....  :)

Interesting composition. Isn't that the couple in times square celebrating D-Day?

Yes there is a statue of this scene at Broadway Pier in San Diego.

Is this a picture of the statue? Or is this a photoshop comp? My son seems to think photoshop, due to the halo around the kids. But I think the shadowing is all correct, so I am saying it is actual. If real, how tall is this statue?

That is great. I had no idea. I was right, the shadows do tell. I just rubbed this in my son's nose in the story (mr. know it all.... Gosh, where does he get that from? I don't know. :D)

It must've been put up since we were last there. I think that was three o four years ago. I will look for it next time. I love your b/w picture, giving it the feel of the original picture.

Angelwolf,

I am very critical of photographs.  Mine, as well as the work of others.

Based on that, your photo of your daughter, in my critical opinion, is absolutely great.

Outstanding work.

and congratulations as well.

that's all.

I think having your own "critical lens" in which you view your own photography is probably a good thing, but it is important to remember that good photography is not necessarily art nor art necessarily represented by good technical photography.  Photography  is truly about imagery and the emotion that it provokes in the different individual viewers.  In short, one person's art is another person's junk.

Once you know the basic rules of photography, feel free to break them. The famous artist Salvador Dali, could paint  photo like representations of about anything.  He chose another path and that has made all the difference.

I recently posted a shot to a photography web site that I almost didn't post.  The curators saw it and made it a featured shot.  It was flawed in my mind, but they felt the imagery overcame these flaws. The great thing about photography is that no one shot is truly perfect.  This statement does not hold true when you look upon it as art.  So think of your photography as art, an image to be conveyed, a moment captured, time in a bottle but keep that critical lens.

Last analogy,
There is no perfect shot like there is no perfect wave, we are always paddling out farther for the next one.
