Calindy, did you use a tripod? and do you have some sensor to take the pic or do you just wait until you see the lightning and then click and hope to catch it?
konaluvr, nice sunset pics, did you use a tripod?

Fight on & Konalvr, great shots!

Fight on, Funny story. I took a bunch of lightning pictures earlier that evening. I took those on a tripod, with a 3-6 sec delay. I would keep hitting the shutter and the delay caught the lightning. I did not post those. The lightning got more intense while I was in bed, so I got up, and went outside and put the camera on a wall since I did not want to wake anyone up by getting my tripod. If I had used the tripod, these pics would have been much sharper! The 4th picture of the lightning was taken like that because I did not put it on the wall the right way, so it only caught the corner. Here are a few taken on a tripod earlier that evening, with a 4 second delay, much sharper:

I never heard of a delay. Is that a feature on your camera? Does it keep your shutter open for as long as you program it?
is your camera an slr?

I have a Canon 7D SLR, and I put it on Manuel, so I could set how long the shutter stays open. I try different times till I think it looks good. For the last ones I posted, 4 seconds was the set delay.

Konalvr, nice pics! I have a real neat bundle program called Topaz Labs. I took 2 of your pictures and used 2 different filters on them. Some of the filters are to make a picture bolder, or show more detail. What do you think of the filters?

Just a snapshot, nothing great about the photography.

My nephew, a West Point graduate, is on his way to Afghanistan.  This is his third tour.  The first two, he wasn't married.  Now he is married with two kids.  The picture says it all.

Cathy, this picture brought tears to my eyes.  I'll be praying for his safe return home, as I do for all our service people overseas.  Thanks for sharing this.
