Since we're limited to a few repeaters that gets us into a vast area, I figured It was time to announce the new addition of an additional link on Blue Ridge. It's been up since August and testing, adjustments are a completed. The Papa System is a network of linked repeaters that covers the greater L.A. Orange County, and San Diego county. With the addition of the Blue Ridge machine it now covers much of the mojave desert.
It is a closed system where dues are required for full access to IRLP or phone patch. However, I have been in contact with the control operator and he has given pemission for our group of Hams to use his system. Just as I give permission for other Hams to use the two machines I am control operator for. Basically with closed machines, is if your invited to use it, then use it, such as in this case. You are all invited to use it with my contact to him. I am not a member because I don't care about IRLP or other features the system has. If you chose to join, that is up to you. This new machine now gives us access to the flat lands in L.A. and beyond, should we need to so. Whether it be for pleasure or a real deal emergency, I think this new machine is a great asset to the Hams of W/W. I've been doing the testing in the mountains for Ceicel and it works well with hand held and vehicle in remote areas. It covers extremely well in W/W with a hand held.
It is a GE System repeater with a Link Sys. controller and a four duplex Angle Linear system and Cell Wave antenna. All the fixings for a bullet proof system.
If your interested in using it the frq. is: 449.380 and the PL is
156.7
As I mentioned above I have no association with this network other than helping them test it and get it on the air.
http://www.papasys.org/ Give a call sometime, as I do monitor it while roaming in the flat lands or mountains.
enjoy,
Mike W.
