Thanks roseBud4000- What did you think of Mocha?

Gypsywolf-Sketchy wants nothing to do with the new dog...even though she is bigger right now.  She avoids her completely.  She'll come around eventually.
I'll put some more pics on shortly.

Hopefully, you will be able to see her soon.  I'll put some more pictures on for you

We got a dusting of snow here at the Ranch and one of the older Joshua Trees looked interesting this morning.

Most of the snow had melted by the afternoon (I'm not sure how....it was very cold).  These are some melted snow droplets on a Pinon Pine bough.

We have a family of Great Horned Owls that live and hunt in our canyon.  One flew into the big dead tree and I attempted to get a picture.  He was at least 50 feet up and I was using my big lens with the flash.  Boy, was he quiet when he flew away finally.  Feathers didn't make a sound.

From the archives but very appropriate as my pipes are already frozen for the night...this little House Finch just sat on the branch with his head tucked in for the duration of the storm.  He was lonely looking and there wasn't the normal large
group of them hanging around.

While we are on the subject of it being cold...here is a Brown Thrush that was waiting to drop down on the seeds that had been scattered.

This Spotted Towhee has some striking eyes.  They hop around full of energy on the forest floor.

This one is for Rosebud4000.  Here is another picture of Mo being coy.

This is the last of the Orioles for the year, I am sure.  They migrate south for the Winter.

Wildman, great shot!! That is why I have so much trouble getting flying photos of the owls, they take off, swoop low, and they are gone! TODAY I found one of the owls back in our Joshua Tree...I am hoping they are planning on making their family in that tree again! The owl looked at me (looks cross-eyed too), but did not seem to care that I was there. I am not sure if this owl is one of the original owlets from last year or not..

Thanks again for posting your photos...they are great!!

Thanks for the photos Wildman!!

I love little Mocha. What a cutie!!

She and Sketchy will soon be friends I bet. Cats are so funny! My Minx rules the house! Both dogs are submissive to her, which is the only way it should be in a mixed household :)

Thank you both.  The owls are amazing and I hear them every night at dusk and then again around four or five.  Sketchy will eventually warm up to Mo...she wasn't too keen on Buzz when we first got him and now they are best pals.

How old is Sketchy?  She sure is pretty.  And Mocha gets cuter every day.....  As much as I love puppies though, I'm glad my little Heidi is out of puppyhood....

Thank you both.  Yes....growing out of (buzzsaw/waking up at night) would be nice.

We're not sure how old Sketchy is but a good guess is around 5-7 years.  She got her name from climbing a 90 Pine tree in our yard and camping out for over a week.  When we went to climb to get her, she went to the very top.  She rode down unwillingly in a rucksack and was "sketchy" ever since.  She is a wonderful cat who makes little demands other then to be with her pal, Buzz and to be a great mouser.

Wildman, your photos are consistently incredible! Thank you so much for sharing them.

Have you ever considered publishing a book?

Thanks.

I've thought of a Book....A DVD...Prints....Screensavers all have come to mind but I just never seem to get around to it.  The Screensavers are being tested right now and will be available locally pretty soon.

Thank you.  I sent one away to the publisher today to see how it turns out.  I'll let you know.

This is Bullock's Oriole and they are frequent visitors during the summer.  They have their own nectar feeder.  Very cool birds.
