Yes....the white stuff is snow.  Here's hoping we get more this year.

Crawdad waits in the shallows of our pond.  We inherited them and at some point, they seem to want to go walkabout and we find them in the horse pens and on the road.  Fun to watch at night when they normally are all out hunting.

Sunset cloud reflections in the same pond where the Crawdads live.  From the archives.

We still have Hummingbirds but not in great numbers.  Only about ten left.

Final Post For Wildman's Best

I attended one day of County Fire's Advanced Rope Rescue course and I was extremely impressed with the degree of difficulty and skill that was being demonstrated by the students and the instructors.  First rate stuff all the way.

Throwing a throw bag across the river to start the rescue process

Checking the ropes and pulleys one more time....

Getting across the Kern River another way.  All those working in the water had wet or dry suits,

The rescuer is taken across the river and then lowered to pick off the stranded person in the middle of the river.  They use strictly whistle signals and hand signals.

Finally, the best shot for last.  Safety man across the river in case anything goes gunny sack.

This will conclude this phase of my photographic journey.  There is much to learn and try in the months and years ahead.  I have been privileged to have over 40,000 views in my three photo threads since we began.  Not sure what form we might reappear as but I'm sure we will someday.  Thanks for the looks and the kind comments.
