Bear entries into houses and garages are becoming more frequent.
Just received a call from a resident near Alpine & Ash in Wrightwood. Last night a bear came in the house through an open window and the screen didn't slow it down along with the families older dog not waking up.
After devouring a full bag of peanuts that were used to feed birds the bear entered the bedroom and woke up the sleeping residents. They were able to scare the bear back out the same way it entered.
Keep in mind that the town has numerous bears in town this summer and they will enter homes looking for food if there's easy access.
When bears become food-conditioned, they approach humans or frequent human-occupied sites in search of food.
