The guzzler is located just South of Linnet, between Elm & Walnut (near the Methodist Church Camp) .

There has to be at least two bears in the immediate area.  The one that visited our home early Thursday morning was more of a cinnamon or light brown color.  Quite different from the one at the guzzler.

Both seem to be about the same size, and I ain't about to argue with either one of them.

Beyond leaving them alone, and letting them go about their bear business, what other options are available?

New trash cans are due to arrive at our home, and superMom's home with Tuesday's CR&R run.  I wonder how long these will last before becoming "unlatchable"

Are there a lot of apples on the ground in your neighborhood?

Not a lot of apples on the ground on my block, but I'll take a closer look around for a couple of blocks in all directions, and see what I find.

A cherry tree belonging to one of the neighbors is dropping fruit, however.  We've busted some of the folks walking by on the street helping themselves...

Wrightwood and RennMan
We have a pile of bear scat on our lot and it looks to be mostly apples also.  We have no bearing apple tree here, just one we planted last year that did not fruit this year.  But if he/she were coming all the way from the Methodist Camp there are a number of apple trees between here and there.

Friends of mine that live at the very end of Mojave Scenic Dr., the house with the big star at Christmas, has been having a bear visit for some time, trying to get in the trash.  Just heard this morning that the bear was back and ate their green apples!  He broke branches in their apple and pear trees trying to climb up the trees.

We have so many green apples this year that the bear is welcome to come to our house.

O.K. maybe not that welcome!   ;)

My trash can got knocked over last night.  We haven't had time to put any trash in there.   Ha! Ha!    No trash to pick up for me.   :2thumbsup:

I think we should start putting our cans in our garage.    My husband suggested that we pick our peaches because they are all red.   But they are about the size of big meat balls.   I was hoping for tennis balls.   They are all pretty low to the ground as our tree is not that tall, so it's either I get the peaches now or they will end up inside a bear and then in someone elses yard as bear scat.

Last night I went out front about 11:30 to stare at the stars and heard a rustling noise across the street. It was really going to town! I grabbed a flashlight and shined it and a big old bear came out into the street and then into our driveway and looked up at us and left. (We were on the 2nd story balcony). I ran into get my camera but it was gone by the time I got back. I've never seen a bear before it was cool! We are on Conifer and Lark

My daughter and I picked the peaches that were ready for picking.    We got about 8 meatball sized peaches.    Another 20 or so are still on the tree.   Still very hard and green.     Sagebrush, from your description, we are a walking distance from you.    If you want peaches, you'll have to fight my kids for it.    All the peaches on our tree wouldn't fill a pot pie.   :'(   Size DOES matter.   :bigcry:   I tried one, they are very sweet.

Something knocked over our neighbors trash can last night.  I usually put my trash out the night before, but with all the recent bear sightings I kept mine up until this morning.

Not really that far from our home (and superMom's as well).  We are near Lark and Cedar.  I think we have at least two different bears in town...

My daughter is on the LA County side and for the last 6 weeks she has had a bear come to her house searching through the trash (well trying to) for at least 3 visits a week.  She said it is a really large bear.

I think you are right Rennman.  The bear on our side of town (lark/cedar/conifer) is probably not the same bear helping itself to Wrightwood's guzzler...   ;D

WWmtngal, I am guessing we have the same bear that your daughter has.  We are really close to the LA county line...
