I looked at your photos and description of your camera. I can't tell; it looks like an SLR, but your described the photos as 2.6 MB. Are you scanning 35 mm photos? or what?......

No the photos are not scanned.

The two types of cameras we use: Canon D60 and Canon 10D are both 6.4 megapixel digital cameras. When a shot is made the original file size, saved to a compact flash card, is generally between 2 and 3 meg before any cropping or editing.

Wow! This is fascinating to me. I've used SLR's for years and have just begun to delve into digital photography over the last year or two. I have a lower end digital camera (Nikon Coolpix) and have been thoroughly annoyed over the lack of control that I have over the settings. Your camera appears to have all the standard settings of an SLR (shutter speed, fstop, ISO, etc. )  I need this!!!! Are there digital cameras with SLR type control that are more in the $1000 price range?

We were on Blue Ridge Road yesterday afternoon and came across a King Snake basking in the sun. I had to scoot him off the road so he wouldn't end up becoming a flat King Snake.
