What incredible footage.  It sure shows the dangerous conditions the fire fighters work under and how hot, smoky, and exhausting it must be.

That was fascinating - thanks for sharing this, Wrightwood.  We're almost to the 10th anniversary of that fire.  I remember it so well.

We were in the midst of home shopping in Wrighwood in July 1997.    It was crazy to come into town with a fire raging and wanting to buy a house.    Realtors probably thought we were crazy.   I remember standing in the driveway of a house we had just seen and saw white flakes coming down.   I said "Snow in July" and the realtor said, "No, those are ashes".

Thanks for showing the footage.   It actually brought tears in my eyes because those were such terrifying moments that I physically ducked my head for the roar of the fire coming over the ridge.

One of the most touching things that I remember was leaving town after the fire was out and all the residents had put up signs along the highway thanking the firemen for their heroic efforts.

I think we should bring this up every spring so we all remember what a careless action could bring to this town.

An excellent portrayl of how firefighters risk their lives for thousands of people they will never meet or know.

Goe be with all firefighters and protect them from harm.

This is just one more reason we ALL have to do our part in proper clearing around our homes.  The empty lots also need to be properly cleared of fire hazards.  I know some of the large parcels are about to be cleared on the north facing slope of Blue Ridge.  It's the smaller lots in town that need attention.

The Firesafe Council has been working on this for years and I thank them for their tireless efforts.
