Next Saturday 8/4, the Wrightwood people who own Jeeps are planning a run, most likely to the Cleghorn area trails. The plan is to meet for breakfast at the Evergreen Cafe about 7AM, kick the tires in the parking lot for awhile and then head out about 9AM. We will all be following Smitty or Larry, since they are the guys that know the trails well. This is an informal group and ride. Anyone with a Jeep or similar 4x4 is welcome to tag along.

Here we are at our first stop, Inspiration Point.  I believe we had about 8 vehicles.

Who owns that nice flat fender ?... I wish I could fit in one.

i hope many Jeepers will join us.!!  Cleghorn is fun with by-passes off the frie road for playing.  We still meet every Saturday at 7:00 to talk Jeep/willys and kick tires.  come on down and join us!

FYI the 4th annual Wightwood Willys/Jeep day will be Saturday, September 22.  Each year we get more participants which makes for a fun day.  Plan on bringing down your Willys or Jeep to join others who enjoy them.

My Sweet Bride & I are the proud owners of that sweet little Flattie!  1947 CJ2a.  We have enjoyed her for 16 years.  My grandchildren will be learning to drive in her.  They are amazed there are 3 sticks to shift.

We also own the green 52 Willys pickup you see about town.

Come on down and join us Saturdays at the Evergreen Cafe commencing at 7:00 a.m., till we get tired of talking Jeep & Willy's...

Thanks for sharing the pics everyone!!

Looks like lots of fun. We are just starting to enjoy the backroads in Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. We love having our Foresters as they handle the dirt and sand just fine. We probably don't have the ground clearance you Jeepers have, though.

Maybe someday we can get one...I like the Rubicons ;D Or an older beater just to have fun in.

From Inspiration Point, we headed down the Blue Ridge trail. We had never been on this trail before. We passed the Mt High ski trails (traffic control must be interesting in winter  ;) ) and the snow blowing water reservoirs and stopped somewhere past Guffy Campground and above the "slide" ...

Is that Dorothy and her little dog Toto?

Nope, its my wife Karen and Stella.

Hey, that guy on the far left doesn't have a Jeep!  Is he just freeloading again on someone else's gas?

what type of runs is your group into?  moderate trails?  nothing crazy?

my ride is my full time car and i can't break it...  i love the photo ops on off road runs....

busy until after the honeymoon and wedding but if other 4x4's are welcome, we will join in for sure....

Angel Wolf,

All 4X4s are welcome.  The WW group doesn't do anything stupid it is basically a fun cruise to enjoy our local sights and sounds.  We are fortunate to live in an area that affords such beautiful scenery.  You and everyone are welcome but you can expect a Little good natured teasing for not driving a Willys or Jeep.  This has been a great way to meet our friends and neighbors who love being a part of Wrightwood and the surrounding area.

For others we also have much more demanding off roading which includes the Miller Jeep trail Paniment Valley and Johnson Valley. On all runs we practice Tread Lightly which means we never go off the designated trails.

Come on down some Saturday and join us at the Evergreen.

Here is another picture of the slide. Gee,  ;) I wonder if I put the Jeep in low-range 4 wheel drive; if I have found a shortcut back to WW. ;) ;) ;)  ...  Just kidding, folks...   The WW Jeep People are a tread lightly group. We stick to designated roads and jeep trials only.  :2thumbsup:  Getting out to see the beauty of the WW area with friends and neighbors is what this is all about.

Rumor has it that a Toyota tried this a while back and is now a crumpled wreck poluting the slide about half way down.

Well we made it down the hill to the Lupine campground. This is as far as we can go.

Sounds good.....  The wkd after the car show.....

Thanks for the reply....

Yes I know the drill about the teasing, when someone in a Jeep showed up for an Xterra club run, we teased them...

Jeeps rock for the serious trails but the Xterra's do a good job too, the longer wheel base is a plus sometimes...

nice fun trails are the way to go for me......

i can do most stuff as i have really good tires and i have a little extra height as the tires are 32's and I cranked the torsion bars up a bit in the front....

look forward to meeting you all

Another picture of Jeeps at Lupine Campground; Larry's is the cool silver one and mine is the puny white one..

I put new Pirelli Scorpian ATV tires on since this pic was taken... supposedly good for snow, mud, trials etc. Can't wait to try them out this Saturday at the Cleghorn run... (see the first post of this thread for info)....

Jeep Club September Meeting?
Isn't there a Jeep club that holds a meeting in Wrightwood somewhere, during the month of September?  Or was it October?
