Alternate I15 routes

I take the side roads without going through Lytle Creek.  Let me see if I can explain how I get home.

From the 15 and Summit (if need be I take side streets to Summit)

Get off at Summit make a right - go to Cherry and make a right
Go to BridlePath make a right - follow Bridlepath around and around then turn left on street right before the bridge (I do not know the name of the street) This will take you to Sierra.

Turn right on Sierra - Go to stop sign after the 15 freeway turn left

Go forever and turn left on street right after the construction (Once again I do not know the name of the street) It looks like a freeway overpass

Keep going and there will be a freeway entrance for the 30/215.  There is a way to get to the 215 and University but I always have to just figure my way out.  I can never remember the correct way.

Maybe my directions will help... :)

Thanksl rdnckgrl78 -- I take the Cherry/Bridlepath route to Lytle Creek and the back way, but didn't know about the route from Sierra past the 15 and up to the 30/215. Good to know.

mechanicalpencil, maybe I misunderstood your comment, but you don't have to take the 14 up to Lancaster. You take it to the Pearblossom Highway exit at Palmdale, which gets you to the 138. That maybe what you meant.

If anyone wants to know the way to get to University/State St. here it is.

From the 15 take the 210 east until it turns into a surface street, the name changes between Highland Ave and Easton Ave going through Rialto and parts of San Bernardino.

Right now you can't take State St due to the construction they are doing on the 210/30 freeway right now.

There are detours available by taking Macy St North from Highland Ave.  The detour signs should lead the way to State St the rest of the way.

State St turns into University Parkway.  One thing to note about taking State St is the fact that there is a major railroad crossing there just like at the crossing for Glen Helen Parkway.  This way is usually not a good shortcut unless the 15 is at a dead stop.

Hope this helps

There is a correction that I have to make about the directions.

State St. is now open to Highland Ave, so instead of taking Macy St North, take State St North until it turns into University Parkway and University Parkway will go right to the 215.

Thanks raddog!!   I don't know that area very well so was so confused by the directions that I had to spend time with Google map and followed your simple directions.    Now I'll know the way.   Wish they finish the 30 soon.   I'm navigationally challenged.

We investigated this way when we got our scooters. We often take them to Corona to see the in-laws and we're only on the 15 from the 138 to Kleghorn. It DOES go out of the way but if you want to get around without the 15 it works! AND you get to ride on a little bit of history. Route 66.

Let's say you're in Ontario....The two fastest roads east towards the 215 are Foothill and (I prefer) Base Line. Take em over to Riverside Ave., go north. Go right on Highland-30-it's the street furthest north that goes all the way east. There's some contruction on State St. so a left here is tricky so go to the next street, Cajon Blvd. It'll take you through a lovely neighborhood that runs along the 215. We prefer to stay on the surface street and make a right on Glen Helen into Devore. It'll go around some nice horse property then pop out and go under the 15. You're now riding parallel to the 15 on Route 66. Take this to Kleghorn and get back on the 15 and exit at 138.

Like I said, it does go kinda east but we rode it yesterday to avoid 15 traffic. Once they finish construction and Route 66 goes through to Sierra you won't need to go all the way into San Bernardino.

So when you are on Cajon Blvd and make a right onto Devore Rd. you are you on North/east side of the 15?   Do you take the Devore Rd and then turn left on W. Kenwood Ave which goes to the South/west side of the 15 and wind along with the railroad tracks until it pops out at Cleghorn?

Are they trying to make Cajon blvd go all the way from the 215 at Devore to come out just north of the I-15/215 intersection?

YES! Great Scooter ride? Cleghorn---NOT Kleghorn--really I AM a teacher......

I'm really not sure what they're doing. But if you make your right turn at the stop sign, just beyond the 15, you'll see the construction and it looks like eventually it'll go all the way to Sierra. Most of the road is already there, they just need to finish it.

There is a nice side road on the 15 you can take to dodge traffic.

1. Take the 210 to Citrus Ave. and make a left.
2. Take Citrus to Summit Ave and make a left.
3. At the first stop sign which is Lytle Creek Rd make a right.
4. When Lytle Creek Rd ends make a left and go over the bridge
5. Make a right on the first street after the bridge which is Lytle Creek Rd.
6. Go all the way to Sierra Ave and make a right, then go to the freeway

raddog, I used to go that way until Lytle Creek road was washed out.  Now all the local yocals who know that route take it, and it can take about an hour just to get back onto the 15 from Sierra.  I was hopefully looking for a way to avoid the whole 15/215 junction thing, since CT is closing the 15 NB this Sat down to one lane again.  I can't keep using all my vacation hours to stay home because the contractors keep changing the rapid rehab dates  ::)

You will most likely hit traffic on any road that you take.  But if you want to try this side route it might work for you.

1. From Ontario take the 10 eastbound toward Fontana, and San Bernardino

2. Take the Riverside Ave exit off of the 10 Freeway and go North

3. Take Riverside Ave to Highland Ave and make a right

4. Take Highland Ave to State St and make a left

5. Take State St to the 215 and go north, or you can take State St. to Cajon Blvd and make a left, this will take you to either Palm Ave, or Devore Rd, you will have to get on the 215 at either University, Palm, or Devore Rd though.

This may not be the right directions anymore since they put I-210 thru???

You can take the 210 directly to State Street now.

Also now that they put that bridge over the railroad tracks on State St. makes things a whole lot easier to get around.

Had to take Waterman Ave. which turns into the 18, to 138 one day to get around traffic in the pass. Not a bad road if the pass is clogged to a stop.
