Today, #AngelesNF completed 85 acres on the Big Pines Hwy project.  Meeting objectives of hazardous fuel reduction, forest health and maintaining a cleared egress along Big Pines Hwy.  Resources will monitor overnight. Burning will continue tomorrow should conditions permit.

Yesterday, firefighters accomplished to burn 35 acres of hazardous fuels in the Big Pines area. #GoodFire

Division 3 resources will be burning near Mescal and Big Pines highway February 7 and 8th.

The area we are targeting still has snow around the piles and is sheltered from the forecasted winds.  We will be taking weather on site and monitoring to make sure we are meeting project objectives and meeting the prescription.  Mill Creek engine and Big Pines along with crew 4 folks will be facilitating the burn, and Clear Creek will be our contingency resource.  The burn will be conducted as a type 3 burn and Matt Ramstead will be the burn boss.

              The Angeles National Forest will be Tentatively, conducting prescribed fire operations this Tuesday the 15th  starting at 8am. We are looking at burning approximately 100 Acres starting near Coulter Pine Organizational Camp moving East.

We will be conducting a pile burn starting tomorrow and hopefully continue through the week, the area will be along big pines highway and the neighboring organizational camps near Jackson Lake. Engine 31, and 38 will be committed with 34 being our contingency.  Battalion 34 will be the burn boss starting tomorrow. Briefing will start at 0830 Big Pines Highway/ Mescal, just above Jackson lake.

We will be trying to continue burning up on the Big Pines Project tomorrow.  We will be using E-38, E-37 and WT-234 and E-33 will be our contingency out of Acton.  With the recent weather that came in over the project today and the updated spot weather the total snow accumulation up there overnight could be 2-3 inches of snow. Battalion 34 will still be the burn boss.
