Looking for Green Apples
« on: Apr 23, 07, 02:04:43 AM »
Hi all,
We just moved to WW and I'm looking for untreated (organic) green (unripe) apples.  Anyone have a tree I could pick & purchase from you?  I make gourmet jams & the apples make up the pectin... Thanks!

Apple trees up here are only now just blooming.

Yes, your best bet will be in the late summer or early fall. And you most likely won't have to buy them - many people just let them fall off the trees and go to waste, and there are also vacant lots that have trees you could access too.

For the unripe green ones, may be you could call one of the apple farms near Oak Glen/ Yucaipa. They have apples in all stages there. I make jams/ jellies as well and in the fall I got some really good deals there.

I have a back yard with many kinds of apples.  I also have cherries, pears, european plum, etc.

They are not ready yet.  I would love to learn how to make jams and jellies.
