Anyone else feel more tired since fire?
« on: Oct 11, 09, 12:23:57 PM »
Okay, the fire is over. We are safe. I just feel so tired and so does my husband. Feel like sleeping. A little PTSD? Maybe because we live on the east side a hop, skip and jump from the fire line? :(

All 4 of us are exhausted.  We all went back to work/college right away but our timeline is all jumbled up from the drama, lack of sleep, sleeping out of town for a few days,  generally having our routine disrupted.  Just brought our horses home yesterday so we are all home which helps.  But yes, we are all puffy faced, sleepy, a bit disoriented...  Hopefully this week will be better.  It's frustrating to feel like this - want it to wear off faster.

I agree, too.

I would suppose at least two contributing factors were the adrenaline rushes that we were working on plus the brain drains from picking/packing the stuff, when to go, where to go, etc.

On the brain drain, as an example how many of us want don't want to take a nice nap after spending the better part of the day at a swap meet? Or after driving a car for a long time.

Too bad all that consumed energy didn't come off my waistline instead of stress putting it on.  ;D

I certainly have been exhausted!  It's hard to believe that we left a week ago today!

I've had to catch up with work I missed and worked 20-hour days to catch up.  Even eight hours of sleep last night and I'm still tired!

Thought that it was just me feeling that way.    Right after we got back, the kids were back in school and to the routine.   Alarm goes off on the weekdays at 4:45 and we are off.   Then Saturday is big breakfast and soccer day.   Today was the first day I didn't have something to 'rush' to.   I slept till 9:15!!!!   I felt like such a lazy layabout (the kind I've always envied and dispised).

As far as I know, it's a pretty normal "fight or flight" reaction. The adrenal glands on the kidneys tell the body to gear up, and they also suck all the energy out of the body to do that.
Time to rest up and cut ourselves a little slack for a week or so.
It's O. K.  :)

Well.... I guess I'm a little different....yes I've been told that before.

I'm use to adrenelan recovery pretty well through my ventures in life. Working long hours without rest has also been most of my life and when the game is on, it's on and you learn to deal with it.
My issue is sleep deprivation from the first night. Get to sleep for a few hours and my brain kept playing this bad movie and how I can make it a good movie. Not that we weren't prepared, I keep anylizing what I would do differently. By taking notes of my thoughts, sleep has gotten better.

But it's not just this event, I have this problem with my work as well. Wake up with an idea, write it down.... or go do a drawing of the idea and back to la, la land.

My boss thinks I'm nuts 'cause I get up before the dawn to get things done before work. Time management is what I call it.

It's all good now and am finaly sleeping better.

Oh ma gosh.  I was and am...tired, cranky, easily weepy, etc.

My co-worker, also involved in the evac, was just not herself all week either.  She said she had felt like crying all week long even though her house didn't burn.  I told her I totally understood that.  It's like we have all that pent up emotion and it has to come out somewhere...sometime...like when some little something goes wrong and you just suddenly overreact rather than take it in stride.
 :'(

Ah well.  I would rather have this problem than have a REAL reason to cry!
 ;D

I'm the same way! It wasn't until I relaxed on Saturday night for the first time in a week that I realized how tI had tense I had actually been. I let some things drop at work too -- not just during the evac which I would expect, but the rest of the week too. I'm feeling much better and I'll fix what I didn't do, but in hindsight I should probably have taken the week off. Ah well.

I have not had one nights good sleep.  I am having bad dreams each night, not nightmares, just dreams filled with fire trucks, sirens, helicopters flames and being very afraid.

If the doorbell rings, I am in a panic and at it in an instant.

I hope this ends soon.....  I am exhausted......

The kids, however, have completely forgotten the incident and see the two days off of school in a hotel as a 'vacation'.   They sleep fine and act normal.

Oh to be young again.

I haven't been more tired this week. But, this morning while still in bed, I looked at a cloud apparently as the sun rose, as it was glowing more orange, and had to talk myself into why it couldn't be a fire. . . ::)
