Winter stuff.......finally.  I've replaced flashlights in the cars with LED headlamps on elastic headbands, or at least LED flashlights.  Much longer-lived bulbs than the old pointy bulbs.  They still use batteries, but I often have AA's in my purse anyway for my camera - a pair or two taped together.  I tend to buy battery-powered stuff that all uses AA batteries, rather than other sizes.  I can tape the dead ones together with the tape, mark them and dispose of them properly later.

My other favorite thing for winter car prep is from my Washington State relatives.....rubbing alcohol for clearing ice off windshields.  Can't keep it in the car, unfortunately, because it turns to gooey thick gel in the cold.  But if a bottle is kept inside by the door, it clears a lot of ice pretty fast.  It hasn't hurt the windshield rubber, or any paint.  West Cajon Valley doesn't get as much ice as Wrightwood, so I'm not having to use it all that often - just if I'm in a hurry.
