Willow trees anyone???
« on: Feb 20, 11, 02:50:07 AM »
Hi all,
I would like to try a method of rooting some rose cuttings that uses 'willow water' which contains chemicals that are still not well defined, and evidently not salicylic acid. What is needed is a small amount of the recent year's growth, a Jensen's shopping bag would be plenty, cut into 1" pieces, smashed and then steeped 24hr by adding boiling water. For anyone wishing to try this, you can see how it works by using the following link and cruise down to about the middle of the page and read the post by Malcolm Manners.

So anyway, my problem is, we don't have any willows. Anybody on the forum have one that I could prune modestly or know of one elsewhere that doesn't belong to anyone?
