Tough Times Have Taught Me.....
« on: Aug 19, 11, 02:27:19 AM »
Tough times have caused me to learn how to re-screen my sliding door screen - and it feels REALLY GOOD!!!  In better times I would have just bought a new one or paid someone to do it - but for less than $8.00 I just did it in about an hour and it was easy.

What have you learned to do, that in better times you would have never tried?
Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it.

. . .to freeze leftovers, and get creative with whatever's on sale! Never paid attention to the various cuts of beef at Stater's 'til I figured out sale prices are cheaper than hamburger. (I don't buy the cheap 22% fat hamburger--nearly a quarter of the burger has to be drained off??? I don't think so. . . ) And why buy lunch meat when we can have homemade chicken or roast beef sandwiches w/out all the additives?

...to build my own classical guitar (for lack of a lot of dollars)...led me to build more for myself, family, and
people I know and today for strangers even.   :)   Tough times have also taught me that vacation can be as simple as traveling short distance and having great conversation with people I'd ordinarily not hang out with.  Supermom and In My Dreams,  I loved your stories.   :2thumbsup:

Tough times have taught me the peace of staying home... camping rather than zooming off somewhere in an airplane, playing games with my family rather than going down the hill, hanging out at the country club rather than zipping off somewhere.... It has been awesome.
