State Route 138 Lane Widening Project
San Bernardino, CA- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin a roadway widening project on State Route 138 in Phelan from the Los Angeles county line to the west of Phelan Road.

The contract was awarded to Granite Construction Company for $4.3 million. Crews will widen the roadway to provide a 14-foot median, wider shoulders and install center rumble strips. Construction is anticipated to begin February 1, 2022, with surveying and pavement testing. This project is anticipated to end fall of 2023 but is subject to change, due to weather or other construction issues.

Work will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Weekend work may be included to assist in expediting the project, or when weather delays prohibit work during the weekdays. During these work hours, crews will control traffic with a flagging operation.

Doesn't sound like this will affect us getting to/from Phelan via Sheepcreek/Beekley?
