Give Ben Balderrama a call.  He is a WW local and has been dependable with work he has done for me.

249-6016.
I have also used Ben for tree removal and was quite satisfied. I know anoher person who uses Ben and he also has been happy with his work.

This is a belated THANK YOU for the reponses provided when I asked about tree trimming back in late April.  Due to circumstances I was pushed for time and have been "out of commission" for about 6 wks.

Michael's, did the work and did a good job, according to the neighbors.  (I haven't seen it yet.)  It was pretty costly but I wouldn't climb those trees for 10 x's the amount!

That aside, I would much rather have hired someone local.

Thanks again,
YardBird

I just tried to call this number, as well as the number for his office (found in WW phone directory), and both numbers have been disconnected.  There are 2 other local tree services advertising in the directory, Wrightwood Tree Service, and Wrightwood Arbor Tree Service.  Has anyone had experience with either of those?

Valley Tree Care as mentioned a few posts above is owned by Dan Day, who is a young local up here.  He does quality work and has good work ethics.  He is a bit more expensive but is definitely worth the price.  We have used him several times.

Dan and his brother Ryan, who own Valley Tree Care, took care of the tree work at my house yesterday, and I will definitely recommend them to anyone who asks!  They were here right when they said they would be, and took care of everything I needed to have done, in a very professional manner.  Great job!

If anyone needs tree work done, I highly recommend Wayne of Chimney Sweep fame.  249-3021.
I had a half dead Leylandi Cypress tree very near my house that had to be removed for fire safe reasons, and Wayne did an excellent job of taking it out.  Also removed some dead braches from other trees on my property.
He is very meticulous about cleaning up the debris, and removing it.  I couldn't be happier with his work.

Plus the fact that he is a very nice person, and a very honest business person.   :2thumbsup:

Tree Removal

Ok, ok.. I know there is likely a thread on here for tree removal.. but I can't find it.

So, I had a rather large tree crash over onto our mobile home here on the property. I've yet to assess the damage to the mobile. But, I need to have it removed. That and a lot of other tree related work. It isn't an emergency as we just use it for storage and .. yes, a chicken coop. Just stop laughing.

I do have the fellow I met at Disaster Day coming out to give us a bid. So, anybody have another recommendation?
Thanks, cheryl o7

Bumping this thread for any updates. I need a couple of lower branches (but still too high for me) trimmed on a pine tree. Probably needs to be a local, as that is way too small of a job for someone from down the hill.

Check with Wayne (Chimney Sweep) 249-3021.  He does excellent tree work and is very reasonable.

We've used Ben a few times in the past and he was fair on his price and his work was great.

Most recently, we had Michael's Tree Service do some work for us in May.  They are out of Chino and are up here all the time.
I did not check his contractors license.  According to Clint on another WW forum, Michael's is not licensed.  Not good if this is true.  He did great work and was a lot cheaper on another bid we got.... Although, I would not use them again if they are not licensed.

Years ago we awarded a bid to a local contractor to do our room addition.  It turned out he was using his son's license number and his had been revoked.   We ended up having a horrible experience.  You think I would have learned to be more diligent when it comes to contractors.... :brickwall:

I have a Michael's flyer, so I just checked. On the flyer, they list license #783559: It comes up as Advanced Tree Service in Covina, and it is expired, and their workers comp insurance expired in 2003.

Wouldn't want them up high on ladders without workers comp insurance or a license!

I got a great bid from a co that was at the Disaster Day event. I couldn't afford it ,, but it was a great
bid. They are down the hill in Redlands. Can dig up the #s if desired. Licensed, bonded, insurance.
I still may use them.. just have to save up the  $$$. And they work with the state program that
pays a good part of your costs for tree trimming if you meet their standards.

I would also use Wayne.. just not for everything we need done. It is a big job here. So, I'm doing the
low stuff .. little by little. cheryl o7o

Please do list any tree-trimming contacts. We have lots to get taken care of, but do not qualify for the assistance because we don't have the required number of TREES. We have lots of very large junipers, but they don't count towards the requirement, even though we still have to remove them.
Thanks!

21 for my lot size (10,000 sq ft). You can't count ornamental or fruit, or large junipers or shrub type trees.
