Small bird in car
« on: Sep 18, 13, 10:28:55 PM »
This is probably going to sound really weird, but yesterday my car was parked in my driveway for several hours with windows open.  Then last evening I went to the Fire Safe Council meeting and rolled up the windows cuz it was getting chilly (for me, anyway, I'm cold blooded).  Put car in garage when I got home last night, windows still rolled up.  This afternoon I went to go to PO and while I was backing out of driveway, I noticed spots all over my dashboard......  Then in rearview mirror I saw a small bird flying up and down in the back.  My first thought was that it had perched on the back windshield wiper (I drive an SUV with back lift gate).  I very soon realized that the bird was IN the car and must have spent the night and all morning in there.  Thus all the spots......  :P  I rolled down the back window and the poor thing, who was probably terrified, flew to safety.  I had a little cleanup to do, but all is well for both of us.

I guess the reason I'm posting this is that I've never ever had this happen before, and I leave my car outside with windows open most days until I get it ready to put in garage at night.  Dang I just got rid of major mice problem in garage and now birds in the car??  I love our wildlife (except mice and gophers, I don't know why Noah let them on the Ark), but want to warn folks to maybe not leave windows totally open.....    ;)
Saving just one dog won't change the world... but surely it will change the world... for that ONE dog!

This should be moved to the crime forum as an attempted carjacking.   :P

Glad the bird got out OK! I had a bat in the house for a couple of days -- I thought it was a bird until it landed on the dining room floor with the dog and cats circling around it! All is well, we scooted it out the door and it fluttered away. Felt like an early Halloween.   ;)
