Advisory: Suspect Arrested at Jail Parking Lot for Stolen Vehicle

Incident: Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Bringing a Controlled Substance into a Jail Facility
Location: West Valley Detention Center
Suspect: Ruben Romero
Summary: On Saturday, June 11, 2016, Ruben Romero entered the West Valley Detention Center parking lot. He was driving a Blue 1994 Honda Accord. As Romero stopped at the guard shack he advised deputies he was looking for his wife who was possibly at the facility for a visit. Romero was asked for identification and could not provide his driver's license. A records check revealed his license was expired and the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen the day prior.
During a search of Romero's person, deputies located suspected methamphetamine. During a search of the stolen vehicle, an open bottle of beer and drug paraphernalia were located. Romero was placed under arrest and booked for PC 4573(A) Bringing a Controlled Substance into a Jail Facility and PC 496(D) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
