There is little smoke from the edge of the fire near the homes in Wrightwood.  I would breath a little easier.  The hottest part of the fire is pushing north towards Wildhorse Canyon, and is approx 1.5 miles from the closest home there.

Joe,
Got calls that people who have interpreted that a house on Interlaken Dr is on fire.
Can you clarify?
That is FALSE.  No houses on the easternmost edge of Wrightwood were affected by the fire.  At closest approach fire was approx. 1500 feet away.  The hottest part of the fire burns northward now and somewhat away from those houses.

Most recent shot of the edge of the fire.  The view is eastward.  North is to the left, south to the right, and the easternmost homes including Interlaken Dr. are at the lower right corner.  The fire stopped it's westward march at the fire break and that doesn't appear to be changing.  The fire break, and the western extent of the fire is approx 1100 feet (.20 miles) from the last home on Interlaken Dr.

HAM radio traffic indicates that the Wrightwood Mini-Mart is out of fuel. Attempts to reach them by phone for confirmation were unsuccessful.

I'm ending my updates since in my unofficial opinion Wrightwood proper is out of the woods for the moment and Channel 7's helicopter is focusing on Lytle Creek.  Wildhorse Canyon should be concerned.  For Wrightwood, I think the next concern should monitoring the progress of the fire that is currently around Gobbler's Knob.  That should be watched for progress overnight.

Joe, Wrightwood, Elk and everyone else.. I hope you will hang in with us.   That earlier report in this thread about the fire approaching the 2 at Mountain Wright Rd.. was of concern.

Frankly.. I don't put a lot of faith in Channel 7/KABC-TV reports.   Earlier the reporter said the fire was burning towards Arrowhead.. they corrected that. Then they said the fire was burning against the wind going downhill. Is that possible?

The wind here is a SW wind.. rather light now.. supposed to pick up.. that means it's coming from the SW and blowing to the NE. Thus, away from PH and unless the wind is doing a switchback.. I think away from WW.

Stay safe everyone.. all best, cheryl o7o

Joe your posts are always welcomed on this forum.
Resources are currently in very high demand all across the state. Incident Commanders must make the best choices based on years of experience and available data. The channel 7 feed is NOT a news broadcast and I feel that they provided great footage of both Lytle Creek and Wrightwood.

The power outage lasted about 10 minutes. Maybe cutting power to the Pacific Estates area as a precaution? The fire IS heading in the direction of the main lines coming into town though. Luckily they're underground up to near Desert Front Road.

I doubt it was a planned outage as it surprised fire fighters.
Not all power coming into Wrightwood is underground from Desert Front Rd. There's overhead lines that were upgraded to feed the Pacific Crest Estates area if I recall correctly.
