can we get in on highway 2 from the west ?

Yes yes and yes. I came through no problem this morning riding my bike up from near LAX. I showed him a copy of the deed, water bill, drivers license and my Forest Service drivers license. We chatted it up for awhile and he was a nice guy. This was at the around the 11:00 hr. Pretty much had the road to myself from Islip on into Big Pines.  ;D

Just got a phone message from the county. Lone Pine Canyon Rd is open to residents only.  Then it said Lone Pine Canyon is closed from Swarthout Cnyn Rd to 138.

Some interesting pictures.  Not all trees burned, some browned but may be alive still, I hope.  These are all on the east side just east of Pacific Crest area

One more picture from this AM.  It was interesting to see different kind of activity, a whirlwind.

This may be a little premature, but does anyone think there will be an effort to replant trees? I'm sure my daughter's Girl Scout troop would be interested in participating.

Anyone have a resource for found wildlife with burns? Burned bunny has been found in WCV. If not, advice on care? Asking for a client down there.

OMG!!!  We were driving home from vacation in Colorado and our cell phone was blowing up. We had no idea how fast it was growing.  Unfortunately this is the new fire norm.

Some interesting pictures.  Not all trees burned, some browned but may be alive still, I hope.

While patrolling, I've noticed that a lot of the trees that appeared to have burned in the Pine Fire on Table Mountain have sprouted new growth.  I've noticed this on trees in the Station Fire as well when I use Angeles Crest.  They appeared to lay dormant for several years and are now coming back to life.

I wonder what would have happened if the two tankers hadn't been cancelled at 11:05?

Timing is not known. There is a lot of emergency repair work being done by Cal-trans, Edison and the Railroad in this area.

They are working very hard to get the work done as quickly as possible. Patience is key.

Per Forum Member ink slinger at 11am 8-22-16

The Post Master told me they're bringing up our mail from Phelan right now.
They're enlisting a crew of postal workers from other offices and will remain open for package pick up until at least 5:30 today. Ron (Postmaster) will call me if they get permission to stay open later.
He said he plans to be back on schedule with our regular mail service within 3 days.

I hope they are keeping an eye on the Isolated Heat Sources on the north fork of Lytle Creek/Alpine Canyon area, as well as the west slope of Pine Mountain, just over the LA/SB county line.

It could be an artifact of the Infrared flyover, but it does concern me.
