I'm on Green Road and the boundaries don't make sense to me either.  I think they're talking about the area where Desert Front runs off of the 2.  Mapquest shows Green also picking up after it ends up here by Desert Front Rd. Sheep Creek does run by Serrano and ends at the 138. I believe it picks up again somewhere closer to WW.  The inci map did not clarify this for me.  Neither does my Thomas Guide. Advice appreciated. cheryl o7o

Just got word from a neighbor that it's coming over the top of Circle Mtn. They need to paint that area heavy.

Being mindful of the accuracy of information, for those who aren't aware, the peak of Circle Mountain is 1.25 miles as the crow flies to the easternmost homes (that I can find) in Wrightwood on Chaumont Dr.  Picture to follow.

With winds things happen fast.  Just a shift from north to west can be devastating like in those communities yesterday.  Combine that with fires creating their own winds, Firestorms that is.

Sheriff was just here..  where I am on Green Rd. is now in the evac zone.  They said the fire is five miles away and moving this way.  Does anyone know if it's jumped the 2?   It still has to jump Sheep Creek Wash to get here.   cheryl o7o

There's been no radio traffic of the fire being close to Hwy 2 that I'm aware of.

Not that anything is impossible, but winds over the past few days are almost never out of the east.  Below is a plot from a personal weather station in Wrightwood from 3 days ago on the left to today on the right.  The number of instances of winds out of the east is very low and probably in the realm of being noise in the data from things like passing thermals:

I honestly think the boundaries for mandatory evac as posted on inciweb.. are not accurate for this section of Green Road.  I'm pulling the horses out and packing up the important stuff. We're going to hunker down here unless it is inevitable.  Don't suppose anyone can double check with inciweb??  cheryl o7o

NWS states the winds will be Southwest today building to 30/45 mph by tonight.  That means the winds are coming from the southwest and going to the east.. not coming from the east as Joe so ably demonstrated in his graph.  cheryl o7o

I suggest trusting the Fire Officials in their recommendations.  Mandatory Evacuations is what they tell us to do.

A very special friend just called me.  She has not been able to reach her son and is very concerned.  I told her I would post her question here and she could watch for responses.  Thank you for any info you can provide.  Here's her question:

Have tried to reach him by phone and have no success, he lives at 10286 Evergreen Rd, Pinon Hills just off the 138 hwy. ??. Has there been mandatory evacuations in that area?  He has like eight to ten dogs and about 8 horses and only a two horse trailer to get the animals to safety.  Please advise if you can.
