Helicopter activity yesterday evening was them leaving the area. They were based at the top of table mountain. 3 helicopters, sherif and pilots, mechanics. Very nice people and true Heros!

I have a question. The reports kept saying 82,000 people were evacuated. Where did they get that number? Wrightwood, Lytle Creek, and West Cajon make up maybe a 10th of that number!

Lynn.. I have pondering that question myself. Somewhere in "Just for Fun" I posted the census numbers for WW, Pinon Hills and Phelan. Those may not have included Oak Hills and Lytle Creek.. but still I don't get that number. Something to ponder as we wash ash off our cars and out of hair. cheryl o7o

I made a run to stater's and on the way home they had checked my ID at Beekley/138 and then again at the 138/2. I asked the CHP officer about the double check and he said they were doing it because they have been catching people trying to sneak in....

Not sure why non-residents would be trying to sneak in? Or maybe there are residents out there w/out ID?

Because there are no witnesses to catch you looting.

... and because people foolishly leave their houses unlocked due to the stress of evacuating.

All schools in the Snowline School District will be open and operate as normal for all students and staff on Monday, August 22.

According to that latest announcement, no. 138 closes at Stone Basin (and does not go thru to the 15)

I guess. It's just hard for me to believe they'd be still coming up to loot when residents have been returning for more than 24 hours. I guess I have to remember that looters are lacking in the "smarts" department!

The CHP guys were really nice. One was going to wave me through based on some pine tree needles I had stuck to my wipers.
