RennMan,
I've been closely following radio traffic this morning and must say fire crews are being very aggressive on going after hot spots. I haven't been posting each time a hot spot shows up but there's plenty of them they've went after today. (all within the perimeter boundaries and no threat to containment)

There's currently radio traffic about SCE replacing poles along Hwy 2 using a helicopter. Expect minor delays

The delays on Hwy 2 were more than minor. My SIL waited more than 30 minutes at Hwy 2 and Wright Mountain Road. Allow plenty of time --

I wonder what would have happened if the two tankers hadn't been cancelled at 11:05?

Ah yes...what if.

Aircraft are a very expensive and much in demand resource.  There was a very brief moment in time when the IC (Incident Commander) thought he had the resources and conditions to hold the fire at around 4 acres.  Over 96% of all wildfires that start are held by responding equipment.  I've returned equipment only to reorder when the situation I though I had changed.  The IC had air tankers and helicopters working the fire as well as a full brush response.  It is very typical to hear an IC return/make available excess equipment....from a fire, traffic collision, rescue, if it appears the units responding can handle.  Remember, aircraft are just one component in putting out a fire.  When the situation changed rapidly, the IC adapted rapidly and started ordering and ordering.  Additional everything was continuously ordered from that time on...including the VLAT (Very Large Air Tanker DC-10).  Listening to their calm, professional voices reminded me why I enjoyed working with them for so many years.

The folks who responded to the initial call are from USFS San Bernardino, SBCO Fire and CalFire.....as well as mutual aid from other Forests and agencies (including law enforcement).  All three agencies have tremendous experience managing fires like this one given the place that we operate.  I listened to the  fire from the inception and all I heard was professionals working together to mitigate a horrendous situation.  I had plenty of time because we evacuated our horses and dogs to to safe location.

I am so thankful no one died.

Anyone have a resource for found wildlife with burns? Burned bunny has been found in WCV. If not, advice on care? Asking for a client down there.

Google wildlife rehabber. Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a wildlife sanctuary.

Posting here as well (sorry for the duplicate):

What is the access permission for those that are non-resident homeowners?  With our CDL not showing a WW address, we'll be bringing the appropriate utility paperwork, but, what is the access permission for "weekenders"?  Thank you.

To answer my own question...

I called the SB Sheriff (760/868-1006) and was told as I was a homeowner I was able to come up to WW.  I would have to provide either a utility bill/property tax bill along with photo ID.  The utility bill will verify the address and the photo ID will verify me to the utility bill.

They are not checking ID going into Wrightwood now.  The checkpoint at the 2 and 138 is just for West Cajon.  We were in and out of there today several times returning horses to Lazy Faire Ranch.

Would like to know about Rosalie Johnson's ranch.  It's the other half of the Clyde Ranch.

I'm colorblind so most color coded maps cause me confusion. This one for some reason I can actually see clearly.  :2thumbsup:

I live Off the mountain, just being a weekender.  I had no problems getting through the checkpoints having a copy of my deed.  They didn't even ask for my drivers license.  I carry it along with Tax Bill and Fire Insurance policy in both my vehicles at all times.

Just spoke to the Sheriff's department and was informed that commuters traveling from Orange County, Los Angeles or the Inland Empire using I-15 North toward Wrightwood, can now use HWY 138 exit toward Wrightwood, as well as HWY 2 and everyone can get through.  Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, Hwy 138 was opened yesterday at 6pm.
Hwy 2 has been open for 2 days.

There might be delays do to repair crews.
