Prayers for the Deputy and his family....both at home and on the job. Our first Law Enforcement and Fire/EMS responders face this kind of threat every day when they respond in SB County. Saw it on my first day on the job in Fontana when we responded to a medical aid with a gang fighting Fontana PD and thirty years later and two days before I retired... when we had an aggressive OD patient who tried to jump out of the ambulance after striking and trying to choke the crew member in the back. We had just given him Narcan which overcame the Opiod which had stopped his breathing.
Evil exists and these folks are the front defense.
