Camp down wash
« on: Nov 07, 18, 04:03:34 PM »
Here's a link to a video of a camp I found down the wash. Usually there's no one there, but over the weekend I saw a couple of cars parked near it. This morning I went by and there was 1 guy in a older 4 Runner with out of state plates poking around. It's obvious people come and go since every time I go by there there's something new or something gone.
Also the dirt road that starts at the 2 ends there and there are a lot of tire tracks.
Looks pretty organized but no fire pit, thankfully.
GPS coordinates are 34.360447,-117.610917

Government land
Angeles National Forest responsibility

Yes it has been reported but the more reports the better, as we have also found camp fire rings and burn barrels down there

Pretty much. I didn't check GPS while there. I looked at a map when I got home
Bit it's right in that area. If you start at the 2 and walk down the wash you'll come the a big pine tree that was blown over and is still partially green. The camp is just a few feet down stream and to the right in a clump of scrub oak. It's not well hidden from the wash side.
This camp is a different location than the camp that was up closer to the 2 next to the dirt road (dump road) .

The late model 4 runner was coming out of the dirt road onto hwy 2 and operator looked like someone who might be attracted to an off grid place to hang out.  Had a cigarette hanging out of the window to flick when I drove by.

Where is a good wet and snowy Winter when you need it........

The more reports to the angeles the better.  Only way to get rid of the problem.  You don't want a fire starting in that location

This is what I worry about.  This really needs to be reported/investigated/remediated

Was this the spot the Sheep Fire started?  And has it been determined to be from a homeless camp?

I had a view of it ever since it was a very small fire and it seemed to originate from somewhere on the southern face of the hill there. It doesn't make much sense for it to originate in the wash since the wind was blowing away from town.

In the same area within a hundreds of feet. The cause is under investigation -I think we can rule out lightning  ::)
