The daily report is now adding a lot of other statistical data to the report.  Our positive count is now doubling every 8 days. They're reporting # of tests by location (pretty darn low). Where the hot spots are and more.  And, they've evidently opened parks in a limited manner.

The bigger picture: county deaths over a 1-week period were 25 to 55, 55 to 77, and now 77 to 93, so rate has decreased over the last 2 weeks. Last virus death in the high desert was 8 days ago. Daily Press reports that, of all patients on ventilators currently in county hospitals, 20% are because of Covid. https://www.vvdailypress.com/news/20200430/coronavirus-cases-top-2000-in-san-bernardino-county-as-number-of-deaths-approaches-100

Cheapskate - Yes.  But the County stats also show the doubling time for positives slowing slightly. That is marginally good news to me. It seems that the virus is just now moving into rural areas here and across the country.

I don't see significant testing taking place. As of yesterday, out of a population of 2 million in SB County - there have been 19,964 tests. Of those, 10.5% were positive.

Breakdown for Tri-Community:
Wrightwood - 1 positive, 22 tests
Phelan - 9 positives, 79 tests
Pinon Hills - 3 positives, 22 tests

There have been no deaths in the Tri-Community due to the virus.

When not at home we keep distance and wear masks, and businesses are wiping stuff down manically. Those measures probably reduce transmission somewhere between 90 and 99%. At yesterday's press briefing LA county's public health director Dr. Christine Ghaly said as long as these measures are in place there is no reason (her opinion) to expand testing to the asymptomatic general public.

So I'm not worried about the number of tests, provided 1) those who feel sick and are fearful can get tested and 2) the obvious hotspots like nursing homes and assisted living are monitored aggressively. Talking to your doctor (or making an appointment at a county test site) takes car of "1", and "2" better be getting done because that county health's entire job these days.

Cheapskate - Yes.  But, SB County's next test site is limiting testing to those over 65; health care workers,  and emergency only. Dr. Ghaly's recommendation you cite in your preceding does fly in the face of everything I've been hearing and reading about measuring community spread. Do you recall her reasoning?

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I believe appointments at county sites are also available to anyone with at least one symptom (in addition to over 65, health care, and emergency). Dr. Ghaly starts explaining at the 22:30 mark of the attached video and takes several questions later, starting at 31:45   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDpSEZqYbAA

The County notice I saw the other day did not state those displaying one symptom could be tested. But, I could be wrong as well.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
