The Bobcat fire has me worried.  There is a canyon near there that has gone unburned in modern times, and is a great thing to look at from Angeles Crest Hwy.   There is a trail leading to Cogswell dam from Azusa Canyon.  A person absolutely set that.  With these fire/weather conditions, the forests should have been closed.  :-\

And this is the camera you want to look at: http://www.alertwildfire.org/orangecoca/index.html?camera=Axis-WilsonEast&v=81e004f

Cascadia Fire Season @barkflight
There is a "mass amount of [people recreating]" in the area of North Fork and West Fork, creating a life safety threat in addition to a structure threat in the immediate area.

If you look at the time lapse for the camera I posted to, you can see the fire started at the dam itself (camera operators @ SCE zoomed in).  The fire is burning up canyon to the northwest, the trail to Cogswell dam runs east out of that canyon to Azusa.  People who might be in danger are anyone on the north side of the reservoir.  I'm not sure if you are allowed to fish out of the reservoir.  As for Azusa canyon, I'm sure it's a zoo on a hot holiday like this.  The dam is some distance from highway 39 though.  Fortunately they'll be able to evacuate both down the canyon, and they will almost certainly open the gate at the closed section @ Angeles Crest Hwy to let people out of the top of Azusa canyon/Crystal Lake.

Correction: the first smoke for Bobcat fire was just after noon (hmm), and a bit east of the dam.  Maybe half mile east.

And unfortunately for SCE, there are three power lines right there: https://www.google.com/maps/place/34%C2%B014'37.8%22N+117%C2%B057'38.8%22W/@34.243824,-117.9618853,294m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d34.2438243!4d-117.9607656

There is also a trail cut for people to go down to the creek there.  I'm leaning towards someone trying to BBQ.  How stupid can you be?

Per IC radio traffic...
Gone in to defensive posture. Extreme fire behavior with 1/4 mile spotting. Potential to threaten Mount Wilson.

There's a lot of illegal campfire and BBQ activity in Big Rock Creek as well. That is concerning. I  just don't understand why those that have the ability to do so, don't close the entire ANF to recreation in these conditions. The ANF incident page had the most write up's of fire activity I've read in a long time.

We've seen it closed before.  Isn't there a new FS top manager since the last time it was closed?  You can't keep it open in extreme conditions like this unless you also have the staff to cover it all, which we know the FS does not.

I recently saw a public service announcement that featured the Monument Director of the newly designated San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.  His message was that because of COVID-19  all of the restrooms will be closed in the Monument.  He encouraged everyone to use the bathroom before you visit the Monument. .
