UIA internet connection is down for me today too on upper East Canyon.

For whatever reason, my Ooma VoIP device, connected to the same UIA router, can get phone service and make calls just fine. The last time we lost service (the vandalism incident) the Ooma seemed to work during at least part of the outage too.

I got an email from UIA at 4:54 saying the main server to Wrightwood was down but they moved everyone to the backup one, which doesn't have as much capacity so may be slower but should have access. Mine works now, as it has all day except for a few minutes a little while ago. (Edna near community garden.)

Dear Valued Customer:

The primary circuit feeding the Wrightwood area is down. In an effort to get folks back online we moved everyone to a backup circuit. This backup circuit doesn't have the same capacity as the primary circuit so you may see slower speeds, but you will be able to get online.

We appreciate your patience while we get this resolved. Another update will be sent within 3 hours.

As of right now.. the news is that there is a power issue somewhere in Hesperia for our primary backhaul circuit. This circuit feeds our Network Office at 1300 which houses all of our head end equipment.
We have ordered another 10 Gig circuit some time ago from Frontier that is still in Engineering. That will take some time to get here, on the order of many months, but once it does we will be fully redundant in Wrightwood and incidents such as these will just go away.

Don't hold your breath with Frontier. Since they are in bankruptcy everything is on hold and "in Engineering".

Unfortunately I have Frontier for my DSL service in Arizona and all promises of service improvements are on permanent hold (as they seem to have been for 5 years). Good luck!

This circuit is a bit different than a home DSL. Should be fine.. it will just take a while.
