Just a guess, but to figure out how far down they have to go before adding new pavement on top?

I had an appointment in Victorville this morning, left here about 8:15, and they were done with the Wednesday night part of the project.  Coming back up, a little while ago, I had to wait just a couple minutes, for whatever they are doing today.  I couldn't see where anything had been done, but there was flagging and a few trucks on the highway.

Didn't they just resurface the road five years ago or so?  Is that normal to have to do it again so soon?

Thanks for following up on this, everyone. Sounds like erroneous info was given by CalTrans and it really affects all our lives esp. in this heat. Hard to imagine a worse time to be doing this, right before a major holiday, in fire season. I also didn't understand why I had to send a question about it to a moderator v. just posting one like normal. Hopefully, we will be able to get in and out of the village safely and quickly.

The original posting was put in News - Announcements which doesn't allow for posting of comments. Once it was recognized that there were issues the topic was moved to Hot Topics which allows postings.

Pavement deflection testing is a quick and easy way to assess the structural condition of an in-service pavement in a nondestructive manner
