K9luvr do they use seat belts for dogs?
(I really don't know and curious if that's a common practice)

Yup!  I don't travel without my dogs being either crated or belted in.  If you look at Jett's pic very closely, you can see he has a black seat belt harness on.  The harness has a loop tha the center shoulder belt slides thru and attaches.  Again, you have to look closely but there is a black nylon webbing to the left of Jett in the pic. (that is not his rear leg going to the left of the picture).  He is a big boy.  With his illnesses, he has dropped to about 80 lbs but can you imagine if he was not belted in and came flying into the front seat in a crash.  It could kill him and getting hit by such a big guy could kill me too.

I was in PetSmart yesterday and they had a whole section called "auto safety" where you could get different kinds of restraints for your pets.  I have to leave the seat belt harness in the car because if I accidentally touch it in the house, Jett goes ballistic and there is no peace unless we go for a ride--even if it is just around the block   ::)  Spoiled boy!

I love rabbits and the last few years we have seen them return in our area.  I haven't seen many Jack Rabbits, mostly Cottentail.  Today I caught these Jack Rabbits trying to avoid me on a walk around Pinon Mesa.

Finally they had enough of me and ran off giving me one last shot.

If any of you have a deck under a tree you have seen the mess of dissected Pine Cones.  I looked out our bedroom window and about 20 feet away caught this critter in the act.

I love it when I find snakes (the kind that don't bite you a gopher snake).  We had this visitor today that we followed for a while.

That's a beauty Chuck - looks like he/she has been living good with rodents in the area.

Beautiful photos, Chuck!  But if confronted in person, I vastly would prefer the squirrel - and please, for heaven's sake, don't show me any bugs!!!   :o

(Nolena knows what I mean ..... ;D)

Now that's intersting ForestGal... That squirrel could tear you to shreds, bite and give you diseases you don't want yet the snake couldn't harm you.

 ;D ;D

I know that, basically, but in my opinion, squirrels are very cute, and snakes aren't.  Maybe I've still got the willies from the rattlesnake encounter last summer, on the high road between Grassy Hollow and Jackson Flat.

I just don't like to be startled - last Monday Nolena and I, a friend, and 3 dogs were enjoying a nice hike up the road at McLellan Flat.  A butterfly flew into my face, and from my reaction, you would have thought I was being attacked by a pterodactyl!   :o
