There is no indication of Wrightwood being in danger of the Ramp Fire .

Wildman is a civilian today and not working the Ramp Fire. He was paying close attention to this fire as his ranch was upwind about 5 miles from it.

We are fortunate to have many forum members who are experienced in emergency services. Both Wildman and Nolena are former fire fighters.

Wrightwood is right.  I am on days off and trying to catch up here on the place.  I did get numerous calls from the media folks I work with regarding Ramp but I don't free lance as an Info Officer.   I enjoy what I do with the Fire Management Teams...they compensate me for my time and I get to work with the most dedicated and intense folks in the world doing something of value.  It's great fun!

There are never words to express what valuable assets folks like Wrightwood, Wildman and Nolena are at times like these!  Thanks for all you do, and for always making stressful situations a little less stressful because of your insightful information.  I've lived all over the world, but Wrightwood is my home, and the BEST!

I just saw on the Channel 5 news that the Davis Ranch is completely gone, all structures. That had been here for a very long time.

Thank you to all who are keeping us so well informed.

You had some great photos of Air Attack 509 with Stan Kabota from the Forest Service.  The helicopter is a surplus Army AH-1 Cobra gunship.  They took off the armament and armor and added state of the art tv camera and FLIR (Forward looking infrared radar) plus a laser designator that can give exact gps location 16,000 meters out.  There are two ships that are identical and were built for next to nothing by the Forest Service.  They are a dual platform...they can fly as Helco (helicopter coordinator) or Air Attack (coordinating fixed wing) or provide the Incident Commander with real time video and FLIR images.  It means the IC doesn't have to get in a helicopter, fly around and not be able to see through smoke and try to find where they are on a blowing map.  The FLIR looks right through the smoke.  The ship was used real time on the Millard to save lives when our fire blew up and the IC made his decision to pull Hot Shots out after watching fire behaviour real time that indicated it was not safe for troops.  The program is called Fire Watch.

I saw one of those copters yesterday around 6:00 p.m., as I was going east on the 138, from Largo Vista and it was a beauty!  It appeared it had gotten water from the aquaduct and was heading to the Llano fire.

Been reading these threads and watching the news about homes being burned in the fires.  Since most of these people know they live where they could lose their homes to a wildfire, why don't they clear their weeds and brush?  With all the publicity, you would think that would have been done in the Spring.

You now meet the new state requirement.  And you are one smart cookie for going beyond the minimum.  Good Job Funky!  Make your place safe and make it safe for those who will come to protect it.
 :2thumbsup:  and a "k" to you!
